Role:
In DP Evoker can be asked to do many things. First and foremost, Evoker is a DD class. We have incredible spike damage.
Secondly we are a tank. IMO (in my opinion) we are third in the tanking lineup, and depending on the gear maybe even fourth. In order of best to least:
1. Knight
2. Soldier
3. Evoker
4. Champ
Thirdly we can be asked to heal. Since we are a summoner class our bps can do a lot of healing, and put unity of vit on and our bps can take quite a few hits in a dp.
Lastly we can do a small amount of CC (crowd Control) our one stun is ranged (beast shockwave) works great for saving healers. we have a 15 sec fear that works great on adds too. dont be afraid to use it on adds. make sure no one is currently attacking it though. if they go out with the mob and agro more mobs.. ur in big trouble. sometimes people dont even like u to do that.. they just dont like fear skills at all.. just say sure thing ill stop. no big deal.
In Siege, Evoker again is a DDer. we can soak up damage and we can be a bit of a meat shield. When i was a lower lvl, i couldn't really hit anyone that much. So i went to siege anyway with the thought, "if i can take a DS (dark spiral) then thats 1 DS that a Healer doesn't take."
Sieges are laggy, i used to always use a bp and it helps, but with the lag there were many times i couldn't get a heal off before i hit the floor. now that im a bit higher lvl I use Hawk primarily in sieges. reason is because it increases my damage, and helps reduce incoming damage.
Equipment:
Evokers use two 1h axes, and summoner armor.
Stones i use 6 vit/5 str/1 int.
But Cravoker u dont cast any spells! why do u have Int in ur build??
I'll tell you why! when i was a young Evoker I would find myself in the arenas a lot. While dueling I found myself at the end of a duel all tied up.. both of us are almost dead, and i have 0 mp left.. so it would come down to a beat down. I personally don't like it to come down to that.. so i added 2 Int stones to my build. at r4 I did 5 vit/5 str/2 int. and this solved my problem.
So if you plan to PVP at all u can add some Int to your build, otherwise strait Vit/Str works great.
Rings I always keep 1 set of Str and one set of Vit. If there is a tank in your party use the Str. If your the tank, use Vit.
Same strategy with Earings too. If your tanking use Pdef. and if your DDing use Patk.
For belt pets I use two different pets. one is orc and one is yeti. Same strategy as with rings/earings.
Pets:
What pets to use are effected by a few things.
Firstly your budget. I dont care what anyone says you dont HAVE to have Tier3 and above pets to win duels.
Secondly, what are you doing. Meaning are you dping or soloing, or PVPing.
Thirdly, is simply your personal preference. You can make just about any pet work for you.
Another Thing is Magic vs Melee pets. As an evoker you are a melee character. having a magic pet while farming would mean u need lunas to get full benefit. No problem at low lvls but at r5+ you will soon be losing money.
Lastly, Ranged vs Non-Ranged. Rps, Sirens, Harpy, and a few others are all ranged pets. for some people that doesn't bother them. and for others, like me, i need melee pets. its easier to control, and your not chasing mobs everywhere.
BP. Every evoker needs one. They are cheap. They dont have to be your lvl to be effective. mine is 20 lvls lower than me and isn't even evo 3. Get one. Love it. Never sell it.
Orc. This is Evoker's staple pet. Meaning most evokers have had one at some point. they are great because their unity helps you both tank and dd. and orcs also do very well in the dd department
Skelle. I always thought they looked cool at evo3 so i wanted one. I got one and lvled it with myself. I loved it. but i recently sold it and am now regretting it. I wish i could get it back. Skelle is a very situational pet. would not recomend it for farming simply because it doesn't do spike damage very well. DPs with at least one BS, SB, CM, Huna is when a skelle REALLY shines. just watch your little tier 2 pet steal agro from a kenta, and laugh when they ask what kind of equips you have on it! hehe.
Yeti. I never advise yetis to Evokers. only reason to have a yeti is to lvl it to belt it later on. Yeti is ment to tank. but Evokers will tank better than a yeti. Yeti damage is also less than a orc. might as well get an orc.
RP. Again i dont really advise evokers to use RPs. they are ranged pets and Evoker is not. you will be doing some chasing to get your mobs off the RP, and not to mention farming with a RP would be expensive to use Lunas. I have heard some high lvl Evokers say their farming speed increased when they switched to RP. so its a preference.
Hawk. An upgraded Orc. and another staple pet of an evoker. If you can get one it will definitely replace your orc.
Sala. a mixed magic/melee pet. i recently got turned on by sala for a couple reasons. First two of its three skills are melee based, and only one is magic and ranged. second his 1 hit skill has a 15 sec cool down, which is half the CD of other melee pets. Since Evoker tanks, you really need a nice DD pet to help put numbers on the board. sala seems to fit the role!
Harpy. recently some people have been telling me harpy is great on evokers. Harpy has great damage potential. But I'm Still drawn to a thread made a while ago on the Rappelz forums where someone did a DD comparason between hawk orc skelle sala and harpy. and harpy came in fourth! (link at the bottom of the page) So im kinda iffy on the whole harpy thing. it is a patk pet but it is ranged. Another Evoker friend of mine swears by harpy and says they are Mage killers.
Unicorn. basically a bp with some crowd control. has a heal a rez and a seal. also has a Move Speed buff. could be useful in siege PVP, but BP still works great.
Nightmare. An upgraded Skele with some interesting toggles. the toggles only effect the pet though. one is a crit toggle and one is a Stun toggle. could be great for dps.. but bad for farming. again i would say this pet shines when fully buffed.
Angel. I think it was Khalid that made me want to get this pet. I know some people dont like him but whatever hes good at pvp. and whether u like him or hate him.. hes very well known on sala/naga. anyway Angel is a healing/tank pet. unity is matk/pdef. the matk is completly wasted on Evokers but the pdef is very nice. its more than a hawks unity and the heal it gives will help u soak up damage.
Kenta. Melee dd pet. Some say one of the better melee pets. has the best unity too for melee people. would have great spike damage too.
There are many other pets, but these are the ones I am most familiar with, or know about. These are the most used pets by evokers as well party because of ease of acquiring and just popularity. Many people told me Skeles are no good, but i wanted one anyway, and loved it the whole time i had him, and even regret selling him. but i hope to get a nightmare in the future.
PVP:
My best advice for pvp is to duel like crazy. try different pets. try different combos. try dsing, try no ds, etc. dont be afraid to lose, pick urself back up, and duel them again. Some people say Bhuna is the worst PVP class there is ingame. I have personally seen a Bhuna beat a Soldier in a one on one duel. learn your class and almost more importantly try to learn other classes tactics. this will help you as much as knowing your own class.
Okay your basic PVP combo should look somethin like this:
Beast Shock wave
Blasting rock cut
Mental Conc
Anger of wild
Log split
Wave cut
Spinning blow
Chainsickle wind
and then just keep blasting away till duel is over
now for some specifics:
against mage classes i recomend using a skele. If you can attack them fast enough and stay on them, they sometimes get in a cast lock. meaning they start casting something, but never finish. thats why i use skele. Unity increases your atk speed, and they hit fast too. doesn't matter about the amount of damage he does, just that it hits fast.
against summoners. the typical set ups for other summoners is usually rp/rp or rp/bp since you can only fear one, its best to take out the bigger threat. BP or either of the rps. if you know witch one is higher.. fear that one. and then go to town on the summoner. skelle/orc or skelle/hawk work well against them. bp in there wouldn't be bad idea eiither if they got one out too.
against warriors… good luck. i mean that. these guys are tough. use a bp your gonna need it. knights are next too impossible to beat cause of the shield. you will be doing double digits to him with your duel axes, which isn't pretty. soldiers can take our full spam and still be on their feet. they can also do a very strong spam of their own. champs have one of the biggest melee spams in the game.. and they can make good use of a bow. again good luck with these guys.
Knowing who u can beat and who u cant is good information. in siege u want to take out who u can as fast as u can. and then try to team up with others to take down the harder people.
Hot Bar and Keyboard:
Okay so I have seen some pretty nasty Skill bars in my day.. one that sticks out the most is Squonky. his was the worst.. as a r4 sin.. he had MAYbE half of his hot bar filled.. but there was stuff all over.. just a mess.
Anyway.. sometimes it doesn't matter what ur skill bar looks like as long as u have it mapped nicely. First here is my skill bar and keyboard.

Now first thing u should notice is on the left side there is an extra set of buttons. these are ment for macros but Game Guard prevents macros. so i am only able to use one keystroke. so i cant even use Ctrl+F1 or whatever.. so the left side of my board is all F1-F12 and the tab button. Oh and i have a few other keys in there too.
Those are my MAIN keys. it has my tab chip f1 smite log split blasting rock and even wave cut (aoe nuke). Pots are also at the top cause i try to keep these up in dp all the time.. i can roll my fingers on these three keys and pop them all at once. Summon Creature, recall Creature, and Dual summon Control are lined up at the bottom for easy access.
One more thing to point out about my main keys is that i threw in a pet stun in there. (currently it's my angel heal though) basically i put in my main pets stun. using stuns at a time when the mob wont die during the stun, is important. it gets max stun that way. and i usually forget i even have the stun so i put it in my main bar so i tend to use it more.
My second most important keys are grouped into 3 sets of 4. Top row is Unity and Pass damage or Q through R buttons. To be honest i think i click these. dont think ive ever used the keyboard to turn these on. Next are my spike damage buffs. Mental conc anger of wild, Paragon and Anger of spirit. Keys A-F. Finally i have my mp/hp stuff.. i can just roll my fingers across these four keys and pop them all at once. Keys Z-V.
Another set of important keys are my bp heals. NEED to know where those are so while ur summoning u can be mashing those keys. my pet bar is basically 1 through = and my heals/rez are 1-3. without looking i can feel the space between the number keys and the F keys.. then i know Esc is first, and then i know where 1,2,3 are. other pet skills are on auto cast.. so i dont need to know where those are xD hehe
U for mount i for some reason use all the time… its a random key that it landed on.. and its in the middle of the keyboard.. hard to find in the dark xD but for some reason i can now find the U key without lookin lool.
Setting up short cuts and using them will make ur spams better. and when u need something fast (mp/hp stuff) its good to know u can pop them in 1 sec instead of three if you had to click them. keep your bar organized, and keep similar things together/grouped. this really helps with spamming. Memorize where stuff is at, so u dont have to look at your keyboard. you should be able to feel your way around fairly fast if you dont move things around all the time.
Final Words:
Pet choice is prolly the most important part. Lets face it rappelz is about pets.
Second most important part is your skill bar placement and how fast u can get to ur skills.
Lastly Equipment. having +20 gear pretty much ensures urself a win in a duel. but isn't nesasary. infact all my gear is below +8. I do however try to lvl it all to 10 as soon as i get it.
Another thing i do is save my pet equips. just because ur orc is done with that r4 axe doesn't mean ur hawk that u will tame next week wont need it! I have accumulated a ton of gear from playing alts and from gaining pets and having to lvl them. And it pays off to reuse old equips like maces on more than one pet.
Conclusion:
Always remember to have fun. when your having fun with evoker you will become a better evoker. For me Evoker is fun. I have done many great things as an evoker. Ive beat a Lock 7 levels higher, and regarded as being one of the better PVP locks on Sala server. and i used a skele to beat him. (no ds) Ive healed through a DS with only a BP. Ive Healed a full DP in SSk corner with a bp. and most importantly ive made lots of good friends through countless hours in dp.
If you have any questions about Pets or Evokers, feel free to send me a pm on here or in game. My main's name is Cravoker. I'm usually really nice and get along with anyone.
