robiee's priest guide

WARNING: Prepare for a lot of crazy topics, bad spelling, and run on sentences. Ill fix errors over the nect few days.

In the tradition of being un-original, I'm going to somewhat use Dirreys druid guide as a template to my healer mainly priest guide..

Keep in mind, as you read this, I have made a priest up from lvl 1-64, but robiee was a rebirth nub, so, some of my insight
lacks lvl 64-110.. But, I have healed in almost every situation possible, so, I might teach ya something.

Ok, to summarize, being a priest designates you for the most part as main tank in dp's. As scary as this may sound, just keep the idea in your head that anytime you think you wanna provoke a mob, and out aggro a tank, just drop a heal. I find that as a priest rather than bishop, that means that you are more worried about the defence side of healing, rather than the offensive side. I think priest is a designated, healer. So, if you wanted to be a flashy power mage with amazing magic attack skills, guess what, you messed up, time to make a new char. Just kidding. No matter what you think, in no way is a priest weak, unless you look at lack of pdef, then, you might have an argument. Well, to define priest to you potential priests, id say, if you enjoy healing, the chance of a lot of lost exp (hey, u dont lose jps ^_^) and maybe the potential to be called upon by people as a good healer, then you have almost made a good choice. I sound lame already, but bare with me.

Weapons

To start out with… I laugh at the healers who run around with two hand maces and think that they are doing anything other than looking like they have no clue how to deal damage. But, whatever floats your boat right.

The AWSOMENESS of a 2 Hand Staff : Overall, if you wanna heal, and you want your heals to be effective, and all powerful uber god like, use a freakin 2 hand staff. 2 hand staffs have the benefit of high Matk. Being that heals rely mainly on your matk (OMG THEY DO… YES.. THEY DO) you might wanna pick the weapon best suited to the job at hand. Would you open a freezie with a knife if u had a set of scissors? I hope not. To be completely honest, I personally cant think of a con healing with a two hand staff, feel free to add your potential down fall of healing a dp with a 2 hand staff.

The One Hand Staff/ Shiled Combo: Oooooh La La.. A shield, that means my pdef is offff the radar now, and I can tank the whole room better than a HW. Yes, you may get a "block" in here and there, and in some roundabout way believe that your awsome with an added, maybe few points of pdef, but honeslty, your a priest, wake up. 1 hand staff will not make up for the fact you have no clue how funny you look. PVP different story. In Pvp this could be a useful way to down certain opponents, which type? Dont ask me. Yes.. As a priest, u get a fancy skill called Divine Shield, or something like that, but to be honest I believe it lasts a whole, 10 seconds.. Enjoy that, cuz, after its over, your dead still, with the shield, or without it. As whe I was going off about two hand staffs, feel free to drop a argument about this, cuz, I'am one person, who views things like this.

The 2 Hand Mace: Waste of time.. Looks cool tho. So, if you think your a bad ass mofo, carry one, cut your heals in half, and do half the damage possible compared to using a 2 hand staff and lvl like, 5-10 energy beat. Thats right, believe it or not, you put on a 2 hand staff, and energy beat mobs, 100 bucks says your doing more good that way then swinging a mace. I did find out today that you get passives for swords, and spears, try that out, be the laughing stock, who knows, it might work out for you.

To Sum up a healers weaponry, please, for the sake of healing (being thats what a priest is) use a 2 hand staff. To many pros, not enough cons.

Sexy, Sexy, Sexy Buffs….

To start off, minor shining armor and weapon are just stepping stones for the shining weapon, and shining armor buffs, they are totally self buffs as you will learn on your first adventure as, cleric.

Now, to the buffs.. Buffs are good, buffs are fun, go out and buff someone.. (thats the most corny and only rap your gonna get from me Dirrey)

Buffs are cast 'things' that you use on people, pets, and yourself to boost certain aspects of your char.

For Example, to the bufffs….

Blessing Of Vitality… The most commonly used buff, because no matter what its being cast on, this will help out everything, and anything. I'd say this would be the most used buff. It boost maximum hit points, and adds extra stats to your pdef, who doesnt want more pdef? If u find someone who doesnt, buff yourself with it, and pk them. I bet you live longer.

Blessing Of Strength.. A very handy buff for the brute force people in your dp, or the melee chars you felt nice when they asked, and you buffed. Examples of people and pets who might like to be buffed strength: Holy Warrior, Fighter, Huna, Archer, etc, etc.. People who u dont need to watste this skill on, Mages (DM, CM, Lock) and yourself, or a bishop. Pets that would enjoy it, anything that attack. Even Bps can use it, if its like for instance, and tanks pet, cuz chances are, that blue pixie is attackin to, so, its add just that much extra to killing speed, and damage increasing potential party exp and enjoyment.

Blessing Of Intelligence.. A Very Very Veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy crucial buff to your whole, well, to everything that makes you a healer. This skill. increases your maximum mp (mana points) and increses your intel stat which in turn, increases your matk, making your heals that much more shiny, amazing, and life saving. People that can use this buff, as well as pets, is everyone, I make an effort to make sure this buff is put on everypossible thing, cuz for tanks, it gives them a bit more mana for a few more attacks, or even a last ditch provoke to save your squishy ass. At lower lvls, refrain from buffing pets with this. It will save you mana. Mages have the highest benefit from this, so make sure to share int love with DM, CM, Locks, Healers, and, Blue Pixies, Red Pixies, as well as shiny angels if u happen to be that lucky.

Blessing Of Wisdom.. I call this the most underrated buff. Being it cuz, its the cheapest card to buy, and, it seems like, no body wants it, and it almost seems like it doesnt even want itself at times. Is it useful.. YES!.. As a caster, or, any person trying there ass off to do damage to mobs that they have no reason to be attempting to hit, believe me, youll see, this buff is crucial. Example. Your a fresh r4 squad heading up the prestigious Palmir Plateau, guess what, your going to battle mobs your probably shouldnt be, and for the most part, everything's chances of hitting are greatly reduced. Blessing Of Wisdom, helps with this increasing your Macc, or magic accuracy. I buff tanks/ mages/and hunas with this skill to aid in there attempts to save you, and have their skills hit. This isnt a dex buff, so, dont go believe its gonna make your party miss less as a whole, but the cm or lock, or, energy beating healer, or huna trying to petrify/ seal the mob thats about to eat you, will thank you.

Shining Weapon.. A very handy little buff, it adds a little extra something something to all hits that land on a mob. Only downside, only on basic attacks. Oh well, buff this to melee classes, and melee pets. Save mana by not buffing mage classes with this.

Shining Armor.. Another "ass saving" buff you get.. It give you an added chance of attack reduction, yay.. Every little bit helps, use this as much as blessing of vit.

Stones/Build

Priest, i recommend a 50/50 Vit/Int stone build. If u wanna be a battle priest (not recommended) add a few wis stones.

that pretty much concludes my build.

Armor

Duh.. If u gotta ask, be something else.

Belt Pets
Belt a pixie 40+ recommend 90+ nuff said.

Pets

Id say the best, cheapest pet you should invest in, is a blue pixie.. Being that healer cards are retardedly (pardon language) priced, this is the most beneficial pet to you to make up for the fact u just couldnt come up with the like, infinty millions u needed for a +2 healing.

So… BP

RP is good aswel, it adds a little more Matk with its toggle, which increases your heals.

Hmm, Solo if u wanna, get a tank type pet that can take a few hits, aka, a yeti/orc

If you are fresh to the game, get any pet, it wont matter, I believe hunas and healers are two classes that can have a pet no matter the lvl and people cant say anything, cuz we have buffs :)

Skills

OK.. Lets talk priest, this isnt a healer guide, but, in a way it is.

Priest have the most useless skill tree, if u wanted to focus on certain skills to concentrate on, id vote you focus more your energy towards MP REGEN and BUFFS.. other than that, i find most the skills useless, sure mass heals sound appealing, and, in certain tight spots a lvl 1 mass heal might be the answer, but as far as jp investment, i recommend a pass unless neeeded to increase a useful skill.

Energy Beat.. Yes, a good skill you need to deal a bit of damage, i recommend it :)

Overall, Max your buffs, heals maybe 10 max, since if u go past it (unless needed for skill tree furtherment *made a word*) its a waste of mana. Also keep energy beat up..

Defensive skills u might like, aswel as debuffs are, acid spray, acid swamp, earth spear, and frozen snare.

Other than that… DONT LVL UNLESS REQUIRED ANY *ANY RAWR* of your toggles, armor, etc.. ALL WASTES!!!!!!!!!! LEAN ON BUFFFS THEY LEAN ON YOU!!!!

NOW.. THE KEY TO SUCESS!!!!! CARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If u are a bum, broke, have a little money ANYTHING.. I recommend ONE CARD!.. +1 Healin, and +1 Rapid Healing.. Yes.. this sounds like something that could be a stretch if your new, but believe me.. Buff cards are just for show for the most part. Healing cards, no matter what someone says, are that added little push you need to seperate urself from sitting to standing. Believe me.

Other Keys to sucess, TEAS!!!! BUY TEAS!!! ALWAYS (unless full mana) HAVE TEAS ON COOL DOWN, OR IN PROGRESS OF GAINING U MANA BACK!!! A MANA LESS HEALER IS A USELESS HEALER!!!!

NOW… Minor tricks of the trade… And Mana Management…

Lvl 1 Healing.. Very Handy.. For example, in a row on my skill bar, I have lvl 1 heal, lvl 3 heal, lvl 5 and lvl 7… All for situations… Keep people topped up with lvl 1, use lvl 3 if it seems like lvl 1 isnt cutting it, use lvl 5 if its an uh oh, and lvl 7 if they are red. =o

When boss killing, etc, or to keep party members life bar topped up, throw a lower level restoration on a tanking person. Then, use level 1 healing on them aswel, to in a sense add a little extra to your heal.. This helps, believe me.

A Side Not: To be 100% honest, I dont believe sitting does anything as far as, faster mana regen. Check your stats standing compared to sitting and see if theres some change that i have missed.. As far as mana regen, use TEAS!!!! Pop a mana pot, and use scrolls ONLY when you think you need them since they arent as abundant in drops.

Remember: ALWAYS BUFF YOURSELF WITH INTELLIGENCE!!!!!!!!! It will give your heals more power, aswel as increase the mana you have to continue using those heals.

If you are to die, ALWAYS REMEMBER TO RE ACTIVATE MP REGEN!!!!

When your in dps, make sure to ask who, and if theres going to be a puller. Keep an eye out for when they are pulling, because, one heal on a puller coming in hot means death to you, or, a scramble where you could lose a couple of party members.

Tanks and when surrounded.. I find a rule of thumb for healing a tank whose life is dipping, but, you are concerned you might get mobbed dropping a heal on them. Check the mobs around them, and see if the majority have full life, or, if some have been hit. If for the main part, mobs have been hit, test the waters, and throw a restoration on the tank, or if u have a bp, use a bp's heal to test the aggro of the mobs. In that situation, you wont recieve to much aggro. However, if your tank is dropping, and the majority of the mobs surrounding him have not been hit, you saving him, means you might end up dying. The key to being a good healer is paying attention to detail. It takes some practice, but, once u get the hang of it, skys the limit i guess.

Spell Potions… These little god sends are very helpful to get your casts of faster. Make sure that you have one running whenever your out there doing your job

Well.. This is all i can think of at this moment in time, any questions, feel free to ask.
